TEENAGER Guy Crosbie ended the reign of hill climb champion Ray Pugh on Sunday (December 13).
The 18-year-old, who raced up the two-mile long climb from Lees Lane to the Prince William pub at the top of Ashurst's Beacon in 7mins 54secs, has finally ended the dominance of hill climb specialist Pugh (8mins 09secs).
Crosbie, who was still suffering from the after effects of flu, was only a few seconds behind guest rider Andy Judge (Southport CC).
Judge managed to rack up a time of 7mins 39secs - despite his chain falling off midway through the climb (and it being put back on super-quick by ace mechanic, Stuart Turton) - but his result will not stand, as he is not an official member of Liverpool Mercury (Dolan) CC.
Other notable results were: Andy Judge (7:39); Guy Crosbie (7:54), Ray Pugh (8:09); Andy Stott (8:25); Sam Turton (9:00); Tony McQuade (11:17).
