LIVERPOOL Mercury (Dolan) Cycling Club has been around for more than half a century, but during the last two years the club’s membership has witnessed a boom that no other club can come close to matching in the North West.
Based at the £5.5m Litherland Sports Park in Boundary Lane, the club boasts its own dedicated £300,000 cycling circuit designed by British Cycling, as well as state-of-the-art facilities such as meeting and changing rooms, loan bikes and ample parking.
Becoming a member could not be easier – just fill in one of the forms from our membership pack (depending on whether you’re a senior or junior), send it to the address printed on the form and then attend the next club meeting to get your membership endorsed.
Meetings are held the first Monday of every month (unless it’s a national holiday, then it’s the following Monday) at 7pm in the upstairs room at Litherland Sports Park.

How to join
After the first few months of excitement at hitting the road or track on two wheels, you may begin to ask yourself, what’s next?
The answer may very well be, why not join a local club. Like many sports, cycling is best enjoyed as part of a group.
Not only do your companions provide much needed advice or encouragement when the going gets tough, but race days or group days out can offer an extra dimension that cycling on your own will not provide.

New members welcome
LIVERPOOL Mercury (Dolan) is a club for cyclists who enjoy many different types of cycling activities.
These include weekend club runs, leisure sportive type events, mountain bike runs, club road races and time trials.
The Merc has three main clubruns on a Sunday morning – the first two depart from Litherland Sport Park at 9am, while the other leaves the Copplehouse pub in Fazakerley at 9.30am.
All groups cover distances between 50 to 70-miles at various paces, but beginners and new members are advised to venture out with the first of the two groups from LSP.

What you need to join
All you need to join Liverpool Mercury (Dolan) is enthusiasm, lots of energy and a road worthy bike – road, mountain or hybrid will do.
Whether you are a novice or an avid cyclist, man or woman, everyone will be more than welcome to join us on our cycling rides and activities.
We pride ourselves at cycling at the pace of slowest rider – we never leave a cyclist behind.

Benefits of joining The Merc
• Excellently designed and produced club kit supplied by Vermac and Dolan Bikes
• Variable discount off products and purchases at Formby Cycles and Dolan Bikes
• Weekends away on foreign sportives

Membership fees
Membership fees for seniors are £20.00 per annum, while juniors (under-16s) are entitled to free membership. Please note that membership fees are only payable once your application has been accepted
